For the past twenty five years I have been working with small businesses – both start-up and existing businesses - initially as a Corporate Relationship Manager at one of the “Big Four” banks.
Ten years ago I had a career change - leaving the safe world of banking to work on the opposite side of the fence – to become an Accredited Business Adviser at social enterprises who wanted to help entrepreneurs launch their own ventures, in disadvantaged areas, by giving them access to affordable, professional business advice and support.
For three years I worked at KIS Training helping young potential entrepreneurs in North London produce viable business plans and financial forecasts to secure funding from the Prince’s Trust.
Following which I joined Brent Business Ventures as a business adviser helping business owners in the West London boroughs of Brent, Ealing and Hammersmith:
review their existing trading models, write business plans and provide financial forecasts to support funding applications secure funding for expansion through banks or alternative finance providers, launch new start business, business plan writing and financial forecasting under the Mayor of London or European funded projects.
In 2012 with my former colleague at Brent Business Venture, Naima Omasta-Milson, we set up London Business Partnership to participate in a North West Europe – European funded Innovation and Sustainability project titled “Resilient Web” which was looking at developing tools and methodologies that can be freely accessed by SMEs, in the future, to help them create sustainable business models drawing on the lessons learnt from the natural environment around us.
This project closes in July 2012 and as a Resilient Web practitioner I am now looking to work with SMEs, in every sector, to help them embrace this new way of thinking in order for them to develop sustainable and innovative business models fit for the 21st century which will create greater profitability.
